Construction Management 2 is a continuation of Construction Management 1. The businessman's responsibilities are introduced and practiced in a term-long project. Emphasis is placed on control of the contractor's direct and indirect costs and the management of men, materials, machines and money. The student will become familiar with accounting methods used to control costs in the construction organization. The completer will understand costs, percentage of completion and accrual methods of accounting and will complete entries to the general ledger and various subsidiary ledgers. Construction Techniques 1 is a lecture/lab class which offers the student insights into the construction process and practical experiences in the practices and principles of construction. Lecture portions of this course will introduce the student to systems, methods and equipment available and commonly used on a light construction project. A construction project will be followed from site work through dry-in during class discussions. Lab sessions, field trips and/or practical exercises will allow students to use carpentry hand and power tools and to practice the skills often required of the small contractor's labor force.
